Mirvac Design Challenge and Maxi Plywood - Creative Zen!

Maxiply congratulates the design team at MIRVAC Melbourne for their innovative and creative use of multiple plywood panel products for the new Southbank office Zen Den.

Across Australia, MIRVAC have instigated the MIRVAC Hatch Project – an innovation program encouraging each state office in the creative design innovation of a unique meeting/staff room.

The Southbank design team worked closely with Maxiply in the unique design requirements of the new Zen Den.

Premium quality Maxi Birch is the featured timber for the main cabinet wall. Each wall panel has been finished with the new eco-safe OSMO Oil and the exposed plywood side edge is finished with an eye-catching black timber stain. The OSMO Oil finish allows the natural warmth and beauty of the northern European Birch to be highlighted and the black exposed ply edges add depth and definition.

Black Maxi Film plywood lines the recessed shelf unit and the shelves alternate the exposed edge with a natural timber protected with OSMO Oil – a total juxtaposition with the wall panels.

To create space, colour and light, the open bookshelf installed on top of timber cupboards utilises a selection of MAXI Film panels in White, Yellow and Black. These randomly placed blocks of colour give definition and an element of fun to the exposed timber framework.

Maxi Film Plywood sheets in white promote the quirky light-hearted element of the room with the named Zen Den wall. The quality Phenolic Film and Birch core allows the cleanly machined perforated dots to provide a visually unique wall surface to announce the name and atmosphere of the popular new meeting space.
